Former member of the Delta State House of Assembly for Udu Constituency, Hon Dr Liege Lord Keston Okoro Mohammed Al-Amin has taken strong exception to the statement credited to former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to the effect that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, were not needed in the All Progressives Congress, declaring that the statement was undemocratic, unpatriotic, very selfish and not healthy for the growth of the party in Delta state.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was quoted to have made the statement over the weekend during a stakeholders meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Delta north senatorial district.

Reacting to the statement, Hon Keston Okoro declared that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was not a Democrat in any way but a selfish, arrogant and unpatriotic element who is pursuing his own selfish agenda ahead of the 2027 general election and not the corporate interest and growth of the party.

‘’That statement from Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has exposed his true undemocratic identity. If you truly want the progress of the APC in Delta state, which political figure could provide an easy route to the party’s victory in 2027 than a sitting governor? The man is so selfish that he does not see beyond his personal ambition. He wants to sacrifice the general well-being of the APC in Delta state for his vaunted ambition of being governor of Delta State.

‘’Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is the biggest problem of the APC in Delta state. He knows he cannot win any free, fair, credible and generally open primaries hence he is working in cahoots with a handful of supporters to seize the structure and declare himself a candidate without subjecting the process to any popularity test. How can all the APC leaders including the serving minister from Delta State be on one side and he keep saying they are irrelevant, giving credit to himself as the de facto, supreme and tyrannical leader of the party in the state?

‘’Does it stand to reason that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is resisting the defection of a sitting governor to the APC because of his personal ambition? How many times has Omo-Agege contested gubernatorial elections and lost using the same tactics of alienation of the majority of party stakeholders? How can Omo-Agege win in 2027 when he is at war with all the leaders of the party in the state? Will PDP jettison their sitting and performing governor to vote an arrogant, selfish and undemocratic Omo-Agege in 2027? Who are those advising this man?

‘’Permit me to appeal to the leadership of the APC at the National level to call this man to order. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has a hidden agenda which cannot make the APC to win elections in 2027. It’s common knowledge that politics is a game of numbers and that’s the main reason we set up political campaigns, mobilization committees, publicity committees, etc to go out there to convince as many people as possible to join the party as we need more people to strengthen the party structure to win elections.

‘’It’s also an indisputable fact that APC is taking over Delta State come 2027 but the defection of governor Sheriff Oborewhori and his predecessor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will make it easier because it shall be a smooth sail to power as a family affair.

‘’ Recently we also saw how the stooges of OVIE OMO AGEGE were fighting against Senator Ned Nwoko defection and even after his defection from the PDP to the APC. How many people has Omo-Agege wooed into the party since after the 2023 general polls which he messed up due to his sardonic, divisive, disruptive and arrogant posture which could not yield the desired result? We cannot go through the same heartbreak again. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has not and will never change. The moment he grabs the APC gubernatorial ticket, PDP will go for thanksgiving and may not bother to campaign because, it will be a walk-over. APC cannot make the mistake of fielding a man who is chasing potential game changers from the party. Let Ovie Omo-Agege leave APC alone’’. Keston Okoro added.
