    Nigeria Wins Seven Medals at Africa Taekwondo Championship in Bamako, Mali

    The Nigeria team to the Africa Taekwondo Championship in Bamako Mali, ended the championship on an impressive note with a wonderful performance . The team won 3 gold,, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medalsAbility Mathew Udom ( Para), Haruna Usman (Poomse) and Aderibigbe Faridah ( Kyorugi Sparing accounted for the 3 gold medals while Joel Jordan, Chidinma Okoko and Salaudeen Abdulazeez got the 3 bronze medals . The only silver medal Nigeria won came through the combined effort of Abdulafeez ana Faridah in Poomse. Reacting to the performance of. The team, President. Of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Ms Temitayo Kuburat Popoola, said the teams remarkable performance reflects the dedication, hard work and resilience the athletes, coaches and support personnel who represented Nigeria with distinction on the Continental stage.The President, board members and the entire management of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation have in a statement, congratulated the successful athletes and the technical crew for their exceptional performance which has once again demonstrated Nigeria’s growing strength in African Taekwondo.The Federation also expressed it’s appreciation to the leadership of the National Sports Commission, Stakeholders and supporters whose contributions played a significant role in the team’s success.The achievement serves as a motivation for the  Temitayo Kuburat Popoola led Taekwondo Federation it concludes.Nigeria went to the four-day championship with eleven athletes and two coaches and won 7 medals.  The team is expected back in the country today on board Asky airlines at 6 pm Nigeria time.
