YBL Week 9: Imadu Laud Boxers Commitment

President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) and the initiator of the Yucateco boxing league Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, has praised the rigidity of some boxers after week 9 bouts of Season 2 of the first and only boxing league in Nigeria.

Imadu who was present at the ring side on Friday, watched alongside other dignitaries as the respective clubs continues their quest for the ultimate prize. The Yucateco CEO in his remarks said the boxers have shown great courage fighting for nine straight weeks since the kick-off of the second season.

” i must say some of these boxers have truly impressed me with the level of grit they have demonstrated thus far, today I saw some boxers who couldn’t last a round when the season started now fighting like warriors, this shows a great deal of improvement”

” all twelve participating clubs in season 2 have their eyes on the 50 million naira prize money at the end of the season, hence their aggressive push for points through their boxers in each fight week, it’s still early days, let’s see how things will turned out because we still have several weeks before the end of the season”.

In some of the results from week 9 round of bouts bouts Ramadan Abodunrin of Tizimi boxing club secured a 3-2 victory over Oduniyi Sodiq of OWAN bc in their 57kg contest. ABC Splendid Ajisola Habeeb decimated Jesubgesan David of ESPITA’s bc 5-0 in another 57kg brawl. In the 63.5kg fight, Qudus Adebayo of OGBAS family bc made a soft work of AY RANO’s Abiodun Oluwaseun as he secured a 5-0 triumph.

The 75kg also came alive with plenty of exciting moves as ESPITA bc’s Oyeyemi Blessing defeated Adesanya Quam of OGBAS Families bc 5-0 to continue his fine run in the league. In the female contest, Awawu Ogunmodede of AY RANO secured a hard fought 4-1 victory against ESPITA’s Aina Adekiwonsa in their 50kg bout. More results from week 9 bouts can be found at the official Yucateco boxing league website.
