Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has joined forces with Shakira for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track is called  Dai Dai, and it’s set to drop on May 14 just weeks before the tournament kicks off.

The announcement came directly from Shakira, who posted a teaser on her social media.

The clip was filmed at Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium,  one of football’s most iconic venues, and it immediately got fans talking.

The combination of Shakira’s global pop legacy and Burna Boy’s Afrobeats sound has people expecting something big.

For Burna Boy, this is another major step on the world stage. Being featured on an official FIFA World Cup song puts him in rare company for Nigerian artists. He follows in the footsteps of  Davido who contributed to _Hayya Hayya (Better Together)_ for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Shakira, meanwhile, is almost synonymous with the World Cup soundtrack. She delivered the massive hit _Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)_ in 2010, and also had songs tied to the 2006 and 2014 tournaments. Her involvement in 2026 keeps that tradition alive.

From the short teaser clips circulating online, Dai Dai mixes Afrobeats rhythms with  Latin pop melodies. The vocals switch between English and Spanish, blending the musical identities of both artists. That fusion makes sense for a World Cup hosted across three countries with diverse cultures.

The 2026 World Cup itself is already historic. It will be the first edition with 48 teams, and it’s being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Matches will take place in multiple cities across North America, running from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

With this scale, FIFA is likely aiming for anthem that feels global, and this pairing of Burna Boy and Shakira fits that brief.
