The duo of Emmanuel Amuneke and Finidi George are front runners and on line to replace Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro.

The contract of the Portuguese will run off at the end of the month and feelers from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) indicate that the deal of the coach would not be renewed if the coach insist on his current earnings, with the Africa Cup of Nations winners among those in the run to replace the coach.

According to ESPN, the Portuguese will be asked to take a significant pay cut to remain in charge of the team.

The Nigeria Football Federation will offer Finidi or Amuneke the job if Peseiro’s contract is not renewed.

Finidi won the Nigeria Premier League title with Enyimba in the 2022/23 season.

The former winger is currently working as one of the assistants to Peseiro.

Amuneke on other hand has served as an assistant coach in the Super Eagles in the past.

The 52-year-old guided the Golden Eaglets to the title at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015.

He has also managed the Tanzania national team and worked with clubs in Nigeria, Sudan, Egypt as well as Zambia.
