Plans for the 2025 Reunion of the Old Students of Government Secondary School (GSS) Gwagwalada, Abuja, have gathered momentum with a series of events lined up for what has been dubbed the “mother of all reunions”, in November.

The reunion, a five-day event, is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the 2025 Annual Reunion Dinner and the General Conference, and is being championed by a host of old students residing within Nigeria and in the diaspora. It is set to take place from November 11th to 15th, 2025.

FCTSS Gwagwalada, alongside FCTSS Bwari, FCTSS Karshi, FCTSS Rubochi, and FCTSS Abaji; all now Government Secondary Schools (GSS) were the very first set of five post-primary schools established in the early years of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), that’s in 1980.

So, a major attraction of the upcoming Grand Reunion will see the first set of students, that graduated in 1985, mark the historic event, with a visit to their Alma Mater, in Gwagwalada on Tuesday, November 11, 2025; tipping off the Annual General Conference and Reunion week events, to inaugurate some intervention projects, put together by the elitist set.

According to the coordinating body, which has Pastor Osondu Ogbuaku (Nigeria), Dr. Izendu Aghachi (South Africa) to, and Mr. Benjamin Dangana (United Kingdom); efforts are being intensified to ensure the successes of the two-pronged events – the Annual General Conference and Reunion of Old Students on one hand, and the inauguration of projects on November 11th, 2025; on the other.

“On the eve of the first day of the Grand Reunion, we (the GOLD 1985 class), plan to visit our alma mater as a group, clad in unique reunion memorabilia, and cap the visit with a sumptuous and terrific luncheon with select students and teachers, to be remembered for ages. We also plan to treat ourselves, with dinner at a choice location, in the city center, the next day,” Dr. Aghachi told reporters.

To be able to execute the projects they (The GOLD 1985 Class of Students) have chosen to accomplish, Mr. Dangana asserted that, there have been some donations, and a few pledges made; with more funds expected in good time, so that the projects can be ready for commissioning before the November date. According to him, “we intend to start work on the borehole project in a couple of weeks”.

Other activities being considered are; Lunch with selected students and teachers, Memorabilia for everyone (T-Shirts), and more crucially, plaques in honour and memories of departed colleagues, Lectures and symposium, Football Match (Select old student’s vs Select teachers/Current Students); Inauguration and Swearing in ceremony of newly elected GOSA Executives; and Grand Reunion Dinner and award night.
