The National Sports Commission (NSC) has established a 13-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) to oversee the inaugural West African Para Games, scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, (Zone A and B) from November 26 to December 4, 2025. This move is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to position Nigeria as a premier destination for international sporting events, as outlined in the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE).

The LOC, chaired by Achakpo Victor, will work closely with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN) to ensure the successful hosting of the competition, which promises to bring together top athletes from across West Africa.

The NSC, in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), named a strong LOC to be chaired by Achakpo Victor, tasked with ensuring the successful hosting of the competition.

The Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the Commission is committed to continuously raising the organisational standards of every competition it hosts, expressing optimism that this event will be another huge success story.

“We have had commendable successes with some of the international events Nigeria has hosted this year, including the CAA U18/U20 Athletics Championship in Abeokuta, the National Sports Festival, and some other international competitions, and this one will not be an exception.”

“We are working closely with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, whose President, Sunday Odebode, played a huge role in Nigeria hosting this competition, and we are very optimistic that all the para-athletes across the West African region coming for this tournament will enjoy their stay in Abeokuta and Nigeria at large,” the DG emphasized.

Members of the Local Organising Committee include Babatunde Adeluola, Adesiyan Abimbola, Musa Mustapha, Fayigbe Olubusiyi, and Kelechi Onwudiwe.

Other members are Michael Obasi, Deji Aladegbemi, Muhammed Amin Mahmud, Joy Mayaki, Henrietta Ehiobor, and Hauwa Sulaibu, while Suleiman Isah will serve as Secretary of the Committee.
