The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is thrilled to announce the upcoming Olympic Marathon Walk, scheduled to take place on July 12, 2025, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The event, which is part of the annual Nigeria Engineering Games, will be led by the NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel.
In a press conference held in Abuja, Engr. Gumel extended an invitation to Nigerians of all ages to participate in the event, emphasizing the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness. “I would like to see not less than 250 people at this year’s event,” he said. “I expect people of all ages to come, have fun, and use the walk to keep fit.”
The NOC President expressed his delight that the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olapade, respectively, will join him in leading the walk.
The Olympic Marathon Walk promises to be an exciting event, with participants gathering at the Nigerian Society of Engineers Headquarters, Off Labour House Road/National Mosque Road CBD, Abuja, at 8 am for the flag-off.
Engr. Gumel, a past president of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, encouraged everyone to come out in large numbers to make the event a success.
The Olympic Marathon Walk aims to promote healthy living and physical fitness among Nigerians. Participants will have the opportunity to interact while also learning about the importance of regular exercise and a balanced lifestyle.
