During a Tourism Roundtable Retreat 2025 that took place over the weekend at the De Signatures Tower Hotel & Suites Ibadan, the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), the country’s leading forum for professionals in commercial law, presented Evang. Ogunkeyede Ajibola with an award in recognition of UfitFly’s significant contributions to the destination management sector of the country’s aviation industry.

Ogunkeyede, who was also one of the distinguished speakers at the Tourism Roundtable Retreat Ibadan 2025, with the theme “Repositioning Nigeria’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors: From Seasonal Hype to Sustainable Prosperity,” highlighted points to move the industry forward while presenting his paper during the session.

A visionary entrepreneur and trailblazer in Nigeria’s travel and tourism industry, Ajibola has redefined travel experiences through innovation, excellence, and customer-centric services. With years of professional experience and leadership in delivering accessible, top-tier travel solutions, he continues to drive transformation in the sector.

The chairman of the NBA-SBL, Mrs. Ozofu ‘Latunde Ogiemudia, while remarking, described Ogunkeyede as one of the industry’s leading change-makers and a visionary entrepreneur and trailblazer in Nigeria’s travel and tourism industry, who has redefined travel experiences through innovation, excellence, and customer-centric services.

“With years of professional experience and leadership in delivering an accessible, top-tier travel solution, Ogunkeyede continues to drive transformation in the Nigerian travel and tours sector. His passion for sustainable tourism, combined with a strong academic and business background, makes him a vital voice in the movement to reshape Nigeria’s tourism narrative,” said NBA-SBL boss.

The founder and CEO of Ufitfly, in his remark after the event, said the inability of the Nigerian federal government to revive our national carrier all these years it has been in the doldrums has negatively slowed down the development of tourism, saying Nigeria is grappling with reviving a national airline carrier after the liquidation of Nigeria Airways in 2004.

“While there have been renewed efforts, including the proposed ‘Nigeria Air’ project with Ethiopian Airlines, it has been met with setbacks and controversies, although the current administration has also expressed commitment to establishing a new national carrier, but the path forward remains uncertain,” he noted.

Adding to that, he said not always happy taking two to three million dollars out of Nigeria every year to other countries for tourism; the funds, he said, could have done much to help the economy if the right things were done by the government to develop our tourism sector.
