The Maritme Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi and his executives have condemned in its entirety the killing of Comrade (Chief) Alfred Etete.

Recall that before the murder of Chief Etete, he was a chief in his community of Agwut-Obolo in Rivers State. He was reportedly shot dead in cold blood by gunmen, while in his residence recently.

The late community leader, Chief Etete, was a retired Vice President -General (VPG) of the Maritme Workers’ Union of Nigeria.

The late Etete was of Seamen, NIWA & Water Transport Branch of the Union before he diligently exited the Union.

Comrade Etete served the Union meritoriously and conscientious until his retirement; while his colleagues as at his active period still testify to his good conduct and his rare commitment to duty.

The President -General of the Union, Comrade Bunu and his entire Executives deeply condemned the brutal killing of the former VPG Etete of the Union as his notice of death came as a deep shock.

The Union deeply regrets the murder of Comrade (Chief) Etete, who meritoriously retired from the Union to serve his community with his vast experience of knowledge until his leadership and service to humanity was abruptly cut shot by enemies of mankind and agents of the underworld.

Comrade Bunu says of Chief Alfred Etete as a very fine gentleman, a Comrade par excellence and a role model of note and worthy of emulation.
He said that Comrade Etete served the Union diligently as VPG before his retirement.

The President -General of the Union, Comrade Bunu described late Etete as versatile in handling labour matters, noting that his strong penchant for relating with his fellow Comeades cannot be equated with anything else; saying of him as a jolly good Comrade who came, saw and conquered.

The Niger-Delta born Labour Activist, Comrade Bunu totally condemned the brutal killing of Etete in its entirety, describing him as his senior Comrade and friend in the Union; praying that his soul be granted eternal rest by the Almighty God, who knows from the end to the beginning.

The MWUN PG also prayed the security agencies, especially the police to fish out the killers of late Chief Etete for sake of posterity and justice as nobody has the right of monopoly to take any one’s life in cold blood for any reason whatsoever.

However, Comrade Bunu is hopeful that the killers of the late community leader will be fished out by security agencies in the country; while sending the Union’s condolences to the immediate family of late Comrade Etete, believing that the Almighty God will not forsake the family he left behind.
