    FORMER NATIONAL VISION NEWSPAPER & THE ANALYST JOURNALIST, AKPESIRI DIES AT 60

    Renowned Benin City based investigative journalist, Akpesiri Oghenerhaboke has died, a family statement said.

    “Akpesiri died on May 20, 2025, at the age of 60 after a brief illness”.

    Known for his fearless & uncompromising reportage, Akpesiri leaves behind a legacy of impactful journalism.

    Akpesiri’s work as an investigative journalist undoubtedly made a significant impact on the media landscape. His dedication to truth and accountability will be remembered by those who value press freedom and quality journalism.

    Akpesiri, as he fondly called was the Chief Executive & publisher of a Benin City based news tabloid, The Analyst, a community newspaper owned by him.

    Before setting up his newspaper in Benin City, THE ANALYST, Akpesiri had worked as Edo/Delta Bureau Editor for Lagos based National Vision Newspaper owned by another fiery writer, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, Public Relations Officer of the All Progressives Party, Lagos State.

    The family in a statement, described Akpesiri as a pride who distinguished himself well in Journalism, a career he pursued with vigour & excellence.

    “His journalism practice is well noted. Love or hate him, Akpesiri is a rare bred journalist who published his stories with facts & figures. To some critics, he was loved or hated. To his family, he will sorely be missed by his lovely children, relatives and peers. Rest in peace,” the statement read.

    Akpesiri’s funeral, according to the family, would be disclosed at a later date.
