The Acting Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has charged Nigerians to imbibe the values of sacrifice and duty that are necessary to build the nation as they join other Muslim faithful around the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Adha.
While extending his warmest wishes to all Nigerians, Adeniyi said that the joyous occasion was a pointer to the values of sacrifice, compassion and unity.
This call was contained in a statement signed for the CGC by Abdullahi Maiwada, National Public Relations Officer, NCS and made available to journalists on Wednesday.
Maiwada, a Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) stated: “As we gather to celebrate Eid-el-Adha, the Ag. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, extends his warmest wishes to all Nigerians.
He stated that the joyous occasion is a pointer to the values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity.
“The Ag. CGC enjoins all Nigerians to embrace the life of service exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He urges them to imbibe the values of sacrifice and duty that are necessary to build the nation of our dream.
“I wish to advise that we come together, united as one, to celebrate the spirit of Eid-el-Adha by sharing the joyous moments with our loved ones and taking time to appreciate the blessings we have been granted,” he explained.
Adeniyi encouraged all officers and men to use the season for reflection on the sacred responsibilities, which God has placed on them to serve as catalysts in Nigerian economic growth and development.
He admonished them to demonstrate the importance of compassion and generosity, not only towards their immediate families and friends but also to those in need.
Acting CG Adeniyi reiterated his commitment to implementing pragmatic steps that will shape a brighter future predicated on the safety, security and economic stability of the nation.
Amidst the demands of such duties, the CGC harped on the need to reflect on the significance of this festive season.
While pledging a better service delivery on behalf of his management team and the entire workforce of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Ag. CGC prayed that the auspicious occasion would be an Eid that would illuminate hearts to the path of righteousness.
