The Operation Whirlwind unit of the Nigeria Customs Service has made a significant seizure of 1,577 jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), totaling 39,425 liters, with a duty-paid value of ₦39,425,000. Additionally, eight vehicles used for conveying the PMS were impounded, with a duty-paid value of ₦24 million, bringing the cumulative value to ₦63,425,000.

The seizures were made in various flashpoints across Lagos and Ogun States, including Ilaro, Imeko, Badagry, Owode, and Ajilete. According to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, represented by ACG Kehinde Hussein Ejibunu at a press briefing on Friday, the seized PMS will be auctioned to Nigerians at ₦10,000 per 25-liter jerry can.

The Customs boss emphasized that smugglers and economic saboteurs will face the law, as the Service continues to disrupt their activities. He credited the success to collaboration with strategic partners, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, Office of the Attorney General, and NMDPRA officials.
