    African Cruiserweight Champion Afinni Targets World Belt

    The World Boxing Bureau ( WBB ) newly crowned African Cruiserweight Champion, Afinni Idris, said his target for 2026 is to win the world title belt currently held by Australian boxer, Jai Opatai.

    Speaking soon after he pummelled Sunday Abudu to submission in the 4th round of their 10 rounds bout on the Christmas eve boxing showdown at the late Sir Molade Okoya Thomas memorial Indoor Spors hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Afinni said he can’t wait endlessly to see the world title belt around his waist.

    Based on this, Afinni said he is super ready to crush any opposition that wants to stand in-between him and his long life ambition, the “world title ”
    ” I’m ready to dismantle any road block that will serve as stumbling block to his ambition.

    According to him, the year 2026 is for him to fight for the World title belt and collect it from, Jai Opatai from Australia, the current world Cruiserweight champion.
    Afinni pleaded with Dr. Rafiu Ladipo led Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C) to speak with the numerous boxing promoters in the country to try and promote the World Cruiserweight title fight to enable him have a shot at the title.

    It would be recalled that Afinni on Christmas eve, stopped his opponent, Sunday Abudu via a technical Knockout in round 4 of their 10 rounds bout to emerge the new WBB African Cruiserweight Champion..
