As part of activities designed for the month of love, the welfare units of the Omega Power Ministry (OPM) have presented baby materials to the expected mothers attending antenatal sessions of the OPM free hospital at Port Harcourt, Rivers.

The gesture initiated by the General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere was to sustaining maternal health services and to stem the high rate of maternal mortality that is on the high rise according to recent report by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the sub-Sahara Africa.

Studies shows that maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in several low-and-middle-income countries is alarming, with about 34% of global maternal deaths occurring in Nigeria and India alone, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the MMR of Nigeria is 814 (per 100,000 live births), this lifetime risk of a Nigerian woman dying during pregnancy, childbirth.

“Another study stated that maternal mortality in Nigeria would reduce if there is an improvement in the quality of care provided within tertiary health facilities and here we have sufficient health experts with internationally recognized good practice, and I can tell you that since this hospital commence operations, we have not record any death here, because every facilities that will aid safe delivery are available here.”

“This is a free hospital where our pregnant women delivers their babies safely free of charge, because of high cost of getting good medical care and poverty that often hindered most women especially at the grassroots accessing good medical care during pregnancy But Apostle Chinyere in his magnanimity came up with this idea to build a free specialist hospital for these class of people.”

“Free Cesarean section, feeding is free and even transportation for mothers to take their babies back home, no one will say after delivery they cease my child, such case that we often seen at most hospital we come here today in the spirit of love this month to donate this to the less-privileged here.” All said during the presentation.

The OPM free specialist Hospital which is located at plot 3 Akporo Rd, Omuahunwo Aluu, Port Harcourt has its rooms built in suites and is equipped with modern facilities to give pregnant women the best medical care. Some of the services offered are Antenatal services, Blood bank, Delivery services, Free CS and Drugs
