The stage is set for Titanic semifinal battles in the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer divisional championship in Lagos Island.
After a pulsating knockout rounds, which produced a plethora of goals across all matches, action resumes today at the Ikoyi Recreational Park, Ije Road, Dolphin estate, for the semifinals battles.
The hostilities will get on the way at 12:PM as Dolphin football club will file out against the defending champions White Tigers FC. In the other game, slated for 1:PM Alphas FC will lock-horns against Greater Tomorrow FA for a place in the final.
The two finalists and the third placed side will represent the Lagos Island division at the state championship outside their financial placement rewards.
For the initiator of the tournament, Dr. Bankole Allibay, the excitement in the Lagos Island division is always a motivation to do more as he called on football fans to turn out in their numbers for today’s semifinal.
“The Lagos Island division had always raised the bar in terms of the quality of football clubs they have, it’s been an exciting campaign thus far and we are looking forward to more excitement in today’s matches at well as those of the final and third place this weekend”.
Allibay further assures adequate planning ahead of the Tech-Week and other off-field initiatives associated with the Spires 5-Aside Tournament.
“We are building up to our Tech Week and other programs in September, we already have the commitment of our experts and professionals ahead of time, and I must say we look forward to another impactful session for the participants”. Bankole added.
The Spires 5-Aside Divisional Championship has been decided in Ikorodu and Epe. As the Lagos Island division comes to a close this weekend, the next stop will be Badagry and the Ikeja divisions.
