Spain’s Jon Rahm had it all working out for his Chicago win after a show of passion and mastery of the golf. Jon Rahm claimed the $4m (£3m) prize for winning in Chicago as well as $18m (£13.7m) for sealing the 2024 LIV Golf League individual title
His victory in Chicago crowned him 2024 LIV Golf individual champion
Rahm carded a final round 66 to finish on 11 under par and beat compatriot Sergio Garcia and title rival Joaquin Niemann by three shots.
The 29-year-old’s second victory in his past three LIV events secured enough points to claim the season-long race for the $18m (£13.7m) individual prize.
On the other hand is Niemann who had also won two finals this year and was the only other player who succeeded Rahm in beating Talor Gooch, winner of last year’s individual title.
The Chilean led Rahm after the opening round but his disappointing 68 on Saturday saw him trail the Spaniard by three going into Sunday’s finale.
Niemann went round in a bogey-free 66 to maintain his challenge but Rahm, who hit an impressive birdie on the par-3 17th, showed his class to retain his three-shot overnight lead and clinch victory at Bolingbrook Golf Club.
Following his two wins and 12 top-10 finishes, Rahm also took home $16.7m (£12.75m) in individual earnings during his debut year with LIV.
LIV’s season will culminate with the Team Championship finale in Dallas from 20-22 September.
