Sabina Chikere, Executive Director of Sports Development and Operations at the Edo State Sports Commission, has extended her warmest congratulations to Moses Aduko on his appointment as the new Head Coach of the Nigeria U-20 female national football team, Falconets.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made the announcement, and Chikere expressed her excitement and enthusiasm for the appointment, labeling it “great news” and a “well-deserved recognition” of Aduko’s brilliance.
Chikere, who had previously worked with Aduko, recalled how she had strongly advocated for his appointment as the head coach of Edo Queens, a female football club in Edo State, in 2022. Since then, Aduko has led the team to remarkable successes, including winning the 2023 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership and securing a fourth-place finish in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League.
According to Chikere, Aduko’s appointment as the Falconets coach is a testament to his exceptional coaching skills and dedication to the sport. She expressed her confidence in Aduko’s ability to lead the U-20 team to success, citing his impressive track record and “thirst for trophies.” Chikere also noted that Aduko’s experience as an assistant coach of the Nigeria U-20 girls’ team, which reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, would be invaluable in his new role.
Aduko is set to resume duty on July 27, 2025, and will face a crucial challenge in September when the Falconets take on Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture. Chikere wished Aduko all the best in his new role and expressed her hope that the winning momentum he has built with Edo Queens would translate to success with the Falconets. With Aduko’s expertise and passion for the game, Nigerian football fans are eagerly anticipating the team’s performance under his leadership.
