Nigeria’s Super Falcons just got a major lift ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. All the invited players have now reported to camp in Ikenne for today’s first friendly against Senegal. It’s the first of two warm-up games before WAFCON kicks off in Morocco.
Senegal’s team, the Lionesses of Teranga, landed in Ikenne-Remo on Tuesday. Both matches will be at Remo Stars Stadium — today’s game and the rematch on Monday, with 4 p.m. kickoffs for each.
Coach Justine Madugu now has nearly his full squad to work with, mixing veterans and fresh faces as the team puts final touches on their tournament prep. The only absentee for both friendlies is midfielder Halimat Ayinde, so Madugu called up Israel-based Josephine Matthias late. Forward Gift Monday was still en route as of Wednesday night.
The lineup has big names like Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Christy Ucheibe. They’re joined by rising stars including keeper Comfort Erhabor, defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran, midfielders Matthias and Kafayat Shittu, plus attackers Joy Omewa, Omorinsola Babajide, and Blessing Nkor.
Nigeria will chase an 11th WAFCON title — a record — and they’ve been placed in Group C with Egypt, Zambia, and first-timers Malawi
