As teams prepare for round of 16 action on Saturday June 6, 2026 in the President Federation Cup, Chairman of Nigeria National League, (NNL), Mr. George Aluo has charged all NNL teams still in the race to go all out and qualify for the quarter- finals of the oldest football competition in the country.

Four NNL sides namely; Sokoto United, Adamawa United, Kada Warriors and Basira FC will be in action on Saturday and Aluo admonished them to give a good account of themselves as has been the case with the second tier teams in the past three seasons of the competition.

“It’s a thing of joy that like the last three seasons, four NNL sides are in the round of 16 of this year’s President Federation Cup which is an indication of the quality of the second tier league.

“And as they go into the match on Saturday, I urge them to put in their best and maintain the momentum that made an NNL team lift the trophy last two seasons while another NNL side, Abakiliki United played in the finals last season but unfortunately lost to Kwara United by penalties”, he stated.

OAluo believes that the teams are capable of reaching the finals of the competition with one of them eventually lifting the trophy.
It will however be an all NNL battle in the Abuja tie involving Adamawa United and Sokoto United.
