Victor Osimhen scored all three goals as Galatasaray defeated Ajax 3-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Wednesday, to become the leading goal scorer in the prestigious competition this season.
T.he 26-year-old striker scored his first goal of the match in the 59th minute. He snuck behind the after heading home a floated cross from Leroy Sane.
The former African Player of The Year, then scored two penalties in 10 minutes to complete his first-ever UCL hat-trick.
The goals took his tally to six this season, sending him to the top of the goalscorer chart.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe are following behind on five goals.
The Super Eagles striker had scored one goal against Liverpool and another brace against Bodo/Glimt in his last two UCL matches.
Osimhen also became the highest-scoring Nigerian across all UEFA club competitions with 25 goals.
He eclipsed Obafemi Martins 23-goal record.
