The Interim Chairman of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba has lauded the initiators of the forthcoming Niger-Delta Sports Festival, describing them as “brilliant”.
“The initiators of the Niger-Delta Games must be people of brilliant minds who are capable of thinking out of the box to develop sports,” says Okumagba.
He emphasized the benefits of the mini-Olympic games, stating, “There are a lot of sports persons and businesses that will benefit from the Niger Delta Sports Festival that is set to hold in Akwa-Ibom state.
Prince Okumagba urge states participating in the Niger-Delta games to prepare their indigenous athletes. “This is an opportunity for all sports commissioners, chairmen to recruit their best indigenous athletes..
. Also an opportunity to nurture, develop and feature your indigenous athletes that will make your state proud both locally and internationally in the near future.”
He praised the National Sports Commission’s leadership, Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olapade, for their tireless efforts in promoting sports development in Nigeria.Prince Okumagba is the Vice Chairman of the African Football Supporters Association and Interim Chairman of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, led a large contingent of supporters to Uyo, where they cheered the Super Eagles.
Okumagba praised Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), sponsors of Niger Delta Sports Festival for their support as talents will be discovered, who will become future global sports stars.
The inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 8,
The game promises to be a thrilling showcase of athletic talents to nurture.
The event will feature 3,000 athletes, aged 16-25, from Niger Delta heritage, competing in 17 sports to vie for top honors.
This groundbreaking event aims to discover and nurture athletes who will go on to become global sports stars.
Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross- River ,Edo, Delta, Imo, Ondo and Rivers State are the participating states.
The Niger Delta Sports Festival is poised to become a premier platform for identifying and developing young athletic talents, pave way for future success on the global sports stage.
