Table toppers, Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, could extend their lead, at the top of 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table to a massive 10 points should they earn a routine win, over resurgent Kwara United FC of Ilorin, in one o the two Day 25 fixtures, scheduled for today.

Remo Stars are currently top of the log with 48 points, and a probable victory over the Afonja Warriors in Ikenne-Remo will take their haul to 51 points; and for Kwara United, an improbable defeat of the Sky Blues at their back yard, means they will climb up to 6th in the table with 38 points.

The chasing pack, which includes Shooting Stars SC, Rivers United FC and Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu, all dropped points yesterday, as eight games were decided at designated centres.

Rivers United were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation hunted Akwa United FC, in a Niger Delta derby played in Uyo; just as second in the table, Shooting Stars SC were forced to a 2-all draw in Ibadan, by 10-man Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, in their first game since Daniel Amokachi stepped down as their Head Coach.

The struggles Rangers Int’l FC continued as the defending champions were outright 0-1 losers to Abia Warriors FC, in Umuahia; but Bendel Insurance earned a valuable point from their goalless draw in far away Maidugiri, against El-kanami Warriors.

In one of the two fixtures, played under floodlights; Ikorodu City fought back from a goal down to edge Plateau United FC 2-1, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos; just like Niger Tornadoes came from a goal down to beat Heartland FC of Owerri 2-1, in Minna.

Meanwhile, Enyimba Int’l FC which is now, more or less a yo-yo club, will look to return to the usual best, when the Aba People’s Elephant takes on Katsina United FC aka Changi Boys, in the North-West.
