Referees officiating at the on-going Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 Tournament in Asaba, Delta state, escaped lynching on Saturday after the game between Warri Wolves and Osun United at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Sources say some fans of the home side almost descended on the officials as they left the stadium after the game.

In the meantime, the referees have asked the NNL Referees Committee to ensure adequate security measures are put in place to secure their safety in the remaining games of the tournament.

After the rest day observed on Day 2 of the tournament on Sunday, actions will return on Monday.

In the fixtures, Yobe Desert Stars will face Doma United at 9am, Barau FC will be up against Wikki Tourists at 11:30am as Khun Khalifat entertains Warri Wolves at 2pm while Crown FC will take on Osun United at 4pm.
