The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) have paid a special tribute to late politician and football administrator, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died on July 26, 2024, in the United Kingdom after a brief illness.
Anambra FA Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi, in his message on the occasion of the remembrance described Ubah as an icon and pillar of sports in Anambra State whose absence has been difficult to fill.
The former Nigeria international added that the level of football development and humanitarian support which Ubah rendered to his immediate community, Anambra State and Nigeria in general impacted positively on a lot of people from different backgrounds.
“Senator Ubah was everything to football in so many ways, with the level of commitment he showed for the game in Nigeria”.
“As we remember him today, I call on football stakeholders to help sustain his ideals which were all about giving succour to the needy”.
The late Ubah who was the proprietor and sole financier of the defunct FC Ifeanyi Ubah; instituted the “One Family, One Footballer” project and numerous football programs to discover talents.
Until his demise, Senator Ubah represented Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
