The Orange girls of Netherlands on Tuesday at the Forsyth Barr Stadium bombed the Vietnam girls in a terrorizing encounter 7-0 more terrible than the Vietnam War and the current highest goals gift to any team in a single match at the 2023 Women’s world cup.

As at the first half of the game, Netherlands had scored five scintillating goals but the second half was not like a training session as Vietnam tried to reduce the tally.

Two girls scored a brace each for Netherlands. Esmee Brugts of PSV Vrouwen rifled the 3rd goal into the net from 25 yards in the 18th minute and scored the 6th goal in the 57th minute with a blast the same way she scored the other goal.

Jill Roord of Wolfsburg who scored against USA scored the 4th goal in the 23rd minute against Vietnam from Jansson pass and also scored the 7th goal in the 83rd minute from a set pieces nodded to her by Van de Gragt.

Jansson who is having her 100th cap had found PSG Forward Lieke Martens with a long ball that bounced off a Vietnam Defender to Martens for the curtain raiser in the 8th minute before Everton Forward, Katja Snoeijs got a pass from Donk to score the second goal at 11th minute  and Danielle Van de Donk herself took advantage of some defence lapses  to push the ball inot an empty net for the 5th goal at the 45th minute

Vietnam and Netherland have never met but Netherland won their recent match against Asian side Japan 2-1 in 2019.

In the first round, USA lashed Vietnam 3-0 and Netherlands clipped Portugal 1-0. In the second round, USA and Netherlands played 1-1 draw and Portugal won 2-0 over Vietnam.

By this goalless draw, USA is second in group E and qualified with Netherland who tops the group chalking 7 points winning two matches and a draw scoring 9 goals and conceding 1; USA is second with 5 points winning a match and having 2 drawn games scoring 4 goals and conceding 1; Unlucky Portugal had 4 points winning one match, with a draw and a loss scoring 2 goals and conceding one while Vietnam that had no point and scored no goal , no win but conceded 12 goals the highest in the tournament so far rocks the bottom of the group.

Netherlands will meet Runners up of Group G and USA will meet the champions of the group in the Round of 16. Group G qualifiers will be decided tomorrow.

Netherland is unbeaten at their round 3 matches played so far at the world cup; the nation has a win and a draw in 2015 and 2019 respectively.
