Looming Poultry Collapse: PAN Members To Meet in Ibadan To Discuss Ways Forward

In the light of the ongoing challenges faced by Nigerian poultry farmers, the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) leadership has arranged a stakeholder’s conference in Ibadan to explore potential solutions.

The association’s National President, Chief Sunday Ezeobiora, is expected to address members and other relevant stakeholders in the poultry farming sector during a meeting slated for Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Kakanfo Inn, Ibadan.

The association’s resolve to invite all stakeholders in the sector for a discussion stems from the fact that, despite repeated pleas to the federal government, the challenges it faces remain unaddressed, according to Rev. Gideon Oluleye, the PAN Chairman, South West Zone, who briefed the media ahead of the crucial meeting.

Rev. Oluleye said, “The choice of sitting the meeting in Ibadan is to allow major players in the poultry sector to attend the crucial meeting.

The president of the association, Chief Sunday Ezeobiora, will chair the meeting and address all the relevant stakeholders that are expected to be in attendance. We shall also address the press immediately after the meeting so the world can know our plight,” Rev. Oluleye added.

Speaking in the same vein, PAN Chairman, Oyo State Chapter, Elder Oyekunle Omidokun, who will be the chief host during the meeting, said all arrangements have been made to host all the stakeholders that will be coming from every part of the country to attend the meeting.

Elder Omidokun stressed “that the agriculture sector has contributed over 25% to the national GDP. The sector has provided job opportunities for millions of Nigerians, hence, all the stakeholders in the sector cannot fold their hands but rise up to save the business sector from imminent total collapse.”
