Imo state Governor Hope Uzodinma received the NDSF Ambassadors and mascot, Bros, in Owerri, Imo State, amidst great fanfare.

The event, held at the Landmark Event Centre, featured traditional dancers and the Imo State choral group, setting the tone for a vibrant celebration.

The unveiling of Bros, the Niger Delta Sports Festival mascot, was highlight of the event.

Itiako Ikpokpo, Lead Consultant at Dunamis Icon and Co-Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, shared the story behind Bros. The mascot is inspired by the dolphin, symbolizing the Niger Delta’s presence, prominence, and respect in its environment.

The Significance of Bros

*Unity and Brotherhood*: The name “Bros” represents the oneness, friendship, and camaraderie shared among Niger Deltans.

Cultural Heritage: The dolphin-inspired mascot reflects the Niger Delta’s rich cultural heritage and its people’s strong sense of community.

The event also featured the presence of Festival Ambassadors, including renowned athletes Victor Ikpeba and Emmanuel Amunike ; others present are Blessing Oborodudu Seun Ogunkoya,Tamunosiki Atorudibo, Olympic medalist, Patience Igbiti and former Falcons captain, Efionwan Ekpo.

The event also marks the celebration of the NDDC 25th years of operation, the managing director Ogbuku said, “the festival aims to promote regional integration and discovery of new sporting talents in the Niger Delta region”.

“Dolphins are also very sociable and cultural. They entertain, learn, teach their young ones, build social bonds and have a high sense of cooperation and mutual existence” Ikpokpo added.
