    Gwagwalada Football League 2025 Kicks Off Second Round: Eight Teams Make It to Super 8 Stage

    The 2025 edition of the Gwagwalada Football League, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, has kicked off its second round with eight teams advancing from the fiercely contested group stage.

    From Group A, Desert Warriors and Excel FC secured their spots, while Medical Strikers Feeders and Ejiwumi FC made it through from Group B. In Group C, Sheikhandam FC and Bocknor Football Academy emerged successful, with NIMMA FC and Inspirational Sports FC advancing from Group D.

    This year’s tournament, one of the most competitive in the league’s two-decade history, featured 26 teams drawn from Gwagwalada and surrounding communities across the Federal Capital Territory. Over 75 matches were played in the opening round, drawing large crowds and highlighting the growing enthusiasm for grassroots football in the region.

    Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Patrick Ngwaogu (Odogwu), expressed his appreciation to all participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship. He announced that the eight qualified teams will be regrouped into two groups of four, from which the top two in each group will qualify for the grand final.

    “We are grateful to all 26 teams for their passion and participation. The Super 8 stage promises even more exciting moments for fans and players alike,” Odogwu said, adding that the date for the Super 8 matches will be announced soon.

    As anticipation builds, local football fans are eager to see which team will lift the 2025 Gwagwalada Football League trophy in what has become one of the FCT’s most vibrant community sporting events.
