Gunmen Kill Night Guard , Injure Woman in Sagamu

Assailants suspected to be herdsmen on Sunday, September 22, 2024, attacked Simawa area in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, killing a night guard identified as Dele Olowoniyi while a mother of one, Adebambo Abiola Aderonke, who seems to be the target, escaped with her child, but sustained some injuries in the head.

Information gathered from the residents revealed that the assailants invaded the community around 1am in the morning, shooting sporadically in the air, causing residents to panic.

While sharing her experience with newsmen at the hospital where she has been taking medical care, Adebambo Abiola Aderonke explained that “I am traumatized by this gruesome and inhuman act that has left me devastated.”

“These assailants have been attacking my family since 13 March 2023 in Ijebu Ode following the death of Otunba Abayomi Ajayi Smith, who owns the Rolak hotel in Ijebu Ode, who was kidnapped and later died from the hands of the kidnappers. My father in-law, Alh. Adebambo Rahman, was a friend to Rolak, and he tried to avenge his death but was killed by these gunmen.” Aderonke noted.

She added that “my husband, Adebambo Azeez, was lucky to have escaped through the ceiling when these gunmen initially attacked them at Ijebu Ode because they vowed to wipe out the family of Alh. Rahman, so this attack cannot be unconnected with the initial one, hence I am calling on the police authority to save me and my child; my husband has left the country to save his life.”
