Ex University of Ibadan Footballers Association Elects New Executive Committee

This past weekend, members of the Ex University of Ibadan Footballers Association elected a new executive committee to lead the organization for the next four years. The virtual election attracted significant participation from members worldwide.

After a 24-hour voting period, Electoral Committee Chairman Patrick Ngwaogu (Odogwu) announced the results. He declared Edwin Evbie as President, Vitalis Odozor as Vice President, Lawrence Azubike Osuagwu as Secretary, Olasoji Ilori as Assistant Secretary, Folajimi Oriogun as Financial Secretary, and Henry Duru as Public Relations Officer.

Odogwu confirmed that the candidates were elected in accordance with the Association’s statutes, and noted that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024, during the gala night at the University of Ibadan Alumni Center.

He praised his committee members for their dedication, noting that the electoral process took over six months to complete. The committee included Adedeji Babalola (Bablo), Dr. Adeshina Ojo, Barr. Wale Hassan, Hastrup Adoga, and Christian Uzu Nkem.

In his acceptance speech, Edwin Evbie, now entering his second term, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and his team. He highlighted the privilege of serving a community that values unity, collaboration, and respect.

“Together, we have achieved much in the past term,” Evbie said. “We faced challenges and celebrated successes as a united team. Each milestone reached is a testament to the passion of our members, and we look forward to continuing this journey.”

He also thanked the Electoral Committee for their exceptional work, emphasizing that their efforts reflect hope not only for the Association but for the nation as a whole. Evbie acknowledged all members who participated in the election, stating that their commitment made the process possible.

New Secretary Lawrence Osuagwu expressed appreciation for the trust shown by the members and promised to uphold their confidence.

The upcoming Annual Reunion, marking its 10th edition, will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the University of Ibadan.
