    Edo  FA Conduct Draws For Women Football League

    Edo  FA Conduct Draws For Women Football League

    The draws for the maiden Edition of the Edo state Women Football league competition took place on Friday September 27 2024 in Benin City.

    The event which held at the media centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City was attended by the registered teams, Executive members and staff of the Edo state Football Association, some Local FA chairmen in the state, stakeholders of the game and some sports writers.

    Conducting the draws, the FA vice chairman Paul Ojeisekhoba told the Participating teams that the League is aimed at developing Women Football in the state, he asked them to always liaise with the state FA secretariat for further information regarding the League that is expected to kick off October 2024, with venue at the Benson Idahosa University mini Sports complex, Ugbor, in Benin City.

    The Seven teams that were drawn into the group phase include Palace Queens Fc, Benin Red soil Queens, Brave Heart Ladies, and Genesis Queens Fc competing in Group A, while Heart Peak Sports club, Tiki Taka Ladies and Bravo Fc will slug it out in Group B.

    Speaking after the draws ceremony, the Edo FA chairman Fred Newton Erhunmwunse stated that the Edo state Women Football League has come to stay as it will go a long way in developing the women game in the state, he however used the occasion to thank Archbishop of church of God Mission international, Dr Margret Benson Idahosa for donating the trophy and other items for the tournament.

    Edo state Football Association have now join the likes of Osun FA and others in organising the state women Football League aimed at developing the Women’s game from the Grassroots.
