Chidi Okonkwo Congratulates NNL Promoted Teams, Warns NPL is no Tea Party

The President of Club Owners in the Nigeria National League, Chidi Okonkwo has sent out messages of felicitation to all the four teams that picked promotion tickets at the end of the Nigeria National League Super 8 Play-off in Asaba.
Heartland FC of Owerri, Kano Pillars FC, Katsina United FC and Sporting Lagos FC were the teams that picked the four tickets at stake at the play-offs which featured eight teams in the Northern and Southern Conferences.
“First I want to thank the Delta State Government for agreeing to host the Super 8 Finals. Most people forget that I am from Anambra because Delta has become my 2nd home. Delta is the home of Sports in Nigeria. Super Eagles come here to play, events like this are not new here in Delta. I did the convincing about hosting this Super 8 during the NWFL Championship and they obliged and I am grateful for their co-operation and support”.
“We are very happy that everything went according to plan. We give God the glory. Everything started in peace and ended in peace and everybody is satisfied”, Chidi Okonkwo began.
“You will remember that on the day of the draws, I assured everybody present that whichever club emerges from the play-offs will be a worthy ambassador of the NNL in the NPL because we wouldn’t want any of them returning after going up”, the CIty FC of Abuja Chairman continued.
“I congratulate the ones that have picked the ticket while I wish to encourage the other ones not fortunate enough to try again next time. I however must say that the NNL teams that have qualified don’t have the ammunition to survive in the NPL yet. I have spoken to some of the Administrators of the clubs that qualified and I have reminded them that NPL is not a child’s play. I am sure they know this and they don’t want to return, so I am sure they will go back and prepare adequately for the task at hand”, the former Delta Force FC Chairman insisted.
The Nigeria Premier League 2023/24 season is expected to commence in August.
