    *BOWFT 2023: Edo Queens beat Remo Star Ladies 2-1 to finish top of Group A

     _*…Robo FC thrashed  Heartland 3-1 as cup holders qualify for the last Eight
     Edo Queens FC, on Thursday, continued their impressive unbeaten run in the third edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), as they secure  a 2-1 win  over  Remo Stars Ladies of ikene Remo, Ogun state  at the Uniben  Sports Complex, Ugbowo Benin City, to finish top of Group A with six points.
    Remo Stars Ladies kicked off the game in a formidable manner, as Arubo Oluwaseyi netted an early goal in the 15th minute, propelling them to a 1-0 lead over Edo Queens. However, Edo Queens’ Abideen Suliat swiftly responded with an equalizer in the 41st minute just before the halftime whistle.
    During the second half of the match, Edo Queens intensified their offensive against the Ogun State-based team with a persistence that later paid off with a penalty kick, which was expertly converted by Suliat Abideen in the 90th minute of the game.
    Esther Moses of Edo Queens was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the match.
    Addressing journalists after the match, the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki expressed satisfaction with the quality of play by both teams.
    Abideen Suliat, the scorer of Edo Queens’ two goals, exuded confidence as she expressed her belief that her team would win the championship.
    In the second game of Match Day 4 held at the UNIBEN Sports Complex in Benin City, FC Robo of Lagos emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline against Heartland Ladies FC of Owerri.
    Elsewhere at Western boys high school mini stadium, ikpoba hill, Fortress ladies of Benin won their first match of the tournament with a 1-0 victory  over Royal Queens of Warri , while Nasarawa Amazons edged confluence Queens of lokoja by a lone goal.
    Edo Queens, Heartland Queens, Fc Robo Queens, Remo stars ladies, Bayelsa Queens, Ekiti Queens, Delta Queens and Nasarawa Amazons have qualified for the quarter final stage of the tournament that will begin tomorrow morning at the two designated venue.
