    Aje Sec. United Christian, Others shine at Opeifa Lagos Secondary Schools Handball Championship.

    The 7th edition of the annual Hon. Kayode Opeifa Lagos Secondary Schools Handball Championship and the 10th anniversary of the championship, has ended in Lagos with Aje Secondary School, Yaba, Lagos and the United Christians Secondary, Apapa Lagos emerging tops in the male and female Senior categories respectively.

    Aje Senior Secondary School, defeated White sand Senior School Lekki, Lagos, 16-9 in the male final to claim the trophy while United Christians Senior School Apapa beat Jagumolu Senior Girls School, 3-2 after a 2-2 full time scores, to lift the female trophy..

    Government College, Eric Moore, Surulere won bronze in male category by beating Lagos City Senior School 8-7 in the 3rd place match while female 3rd position went to Government Senior College, Agege that defeated Lagos City Senior College 2-0..

    Playing in the junior male category, Aje Comprehensive Junior defeated Whitesand junior College 8-3 to emerge champions while Herbert Macaulay school beat Igbobi junior school 7-6 to smile home with the Junior female trophy.

    Chioma Ezeonuanugela and Nosiru Olufemi both from Lagos City Senior School emerged as the best goalkeepers in the senior female and male categories respectively while ESO Gabriella of United Christian emerged as the Most Valuable Player( MVP) in the female Senior category.

    The male senior MVP award went to Oni Timilehin of Whitesand secondary school.
    Adenaya Favour of Igbobi Junior School and Chidera Muogilil of Whitesand Junior School, won the Junior female and male MVP awards respectively. Emmanuel Grace of Jagumolu Senior Girls School and David Ayomide of Aje Comprehensive senior school, emerged as senior female and male highest goal scorers while Nwoba Chinenye of Herbert Macaulay junior school picked the highest goal scorer’s award for the female Junior class while that of the male went to Gumavo Pascal of Aje Comprehensive Junior School.

    Over I20 players drawn from 60 schools across Lagos state, took part in the weeklong exercise that took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex ( Rowe Park Sports Arena), Yaba, Lagos according to the event coordinator, Mrs Adeola Opeifa.

    Meanwhile, the sponsor, Hon. Kayode Opeifa has commended all the players, coaches schools and the Lagos state sports commission for their support in making this 7th edition and 10th anniversary of the championship a reality.
