Ahead of weekend’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Sierra Leone and Nigeria in Monrovia, the camp of the Super Eagles have swelled with majority of the invited players already in camp and intensifying efforts in training.
The captain, Ahmed Musa, and FC Porto defender Sanusi Zaidu, on Monday evening, became the early birds in the Super Eagles nest at Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium) in Lagos.
Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro now has twenty one players at his disposal following the arrival of Sivasspor winger Musa and Porto left-back Sanusi.
The Super Eagles got down to business on Monday morning with the players in camp working out in the gym.
Twenty one Super Eagles players in camp include Zaidu, Musa, Ekong, Lookman, Aribo, Iwobi, Bassey, Ajayi, Akpoguma, Omeruo, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Simon, Adeleye, Sochima, Ojo, Duru, Samuel, Divine, Onyeka.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles had their first training session at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Monday evening.
The Portuguese football tactician is still waiting to welcome one of his main players, Victor Osimhen and Villareal winger Samuel Chukwueze as at the time of going to press.
The coach said he was sure of a decent result in Monrovia and said the team would not underrate their opponents.
“We are on top of the group and hopes to finish it right there (Monrovia) but that is not to say that it will be an easy game.
“However, we are sure to get the kind of result we need,” he was quoted as saying after their training Monday.
