Sophie was studious but Raina wasn’t. They shared things together except for study time. Sophie wished for her friend to turn a new leaf, it didn’t happened.
Sophie visited Raina one Thursday afternoon because she had not been seeing her in school for quite awhile, though not unusual, but she felt she was ill or something came up because she believed that she (Raina) could not just afford to miss classes few days to second semester exams.
She approached Raina’s house, but a bit confused because of the loud music emanating from her lodge- loud enough to deafening one’s ears.
She walked in, knocked so hard in other to get a response. She finally got an attention after knocking for the umpteenth time.
“Who’s there?”, Raina asked. “It’s me, Sophie,” she responded.
Raina decreased the volume of the music then opened the door.
“Here was I thinking you were Ill, so you could not come for classes, you’ve been busy all day”. Sophie spilled out angrily.
Raina wanted to talk but Sophie stormed out leaving Raina in her logde. She felt guilty a little then gathered courage and felt like a lord.
Exams finally arrived, Sophie had promised herself she won’t listen to Raina during exams like she used to.
They had three papers that day. Raina was shocked that Sophie did not show her a single thing, she cried a lot. The exams went by and ended.
Results were out. Sophie passed, Raina failed with lots of carry overs. Raina felt bad so decided to buckle up.
The next semester, Raina stopped partying, clubbing and all. She decided to focus on her studies, her other academic years were excellent. They graduated from college in flying colors.
One day, both ladies were discussing so Raina chipped in that Sophie made her pass her exams. Sophie asked how, she then reminded her the day she stopped showing her answers during her exams.
When we keep getting things freely with ease, we are not easily challenged to do the right thing or what is best for us. Sometimes we need challenges to make us focused.
