Despite losing their last game 0-1 to city rivals, Inter Lagos, Sporting Lagos Friday evening emerged the overall champion of the NNL 2025/2026 season.

The Coach, Jeffrey Buter led side who were topping the table with six points prior to the last match of the tournament, could not contain the tactical discipline of their opponent who frustrated all their moves to score a goal in the highly technical game.

A goal by Hassan Bashiru of Inter Lagos in the 6th minute of play was all that was needed to separate the two sides, but Sporting were crowned champions, with a superior goal aggregate against their opponent.

In the other match which was played simultaneously, Ranchers Bees defeated Doma United 3-1.

For emerging champions, Sporting Lagos went home with N10 million and another N2.5 million courtesy of Betpawa as the best team of the tournament, while other teams got N2 million each

There were also other prizes like, Most Valuable Player, Highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, goal of the season, best coach, best behaved team, fair play award, best Supporters Club and amongst others with their winners going home with prizes ranging from N880,000 to N400,000 courtesy of Betpawa

The tournament which was watched by a capacity crowd at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State attracted top NFF members, football stakeholders and ex- internationals

There was also performance by top musician, Portable and raffle draws.

Speaking shortly after the impressive closing ceremony, Chairman of NNL Mr. George Aluo, expressed delight that the Super 4 came to a successful conclusion and commended the teams and officials for a job well done.

He also was full of appreciation to Hon. Kunle Soname for hosting the tournament and their sponsors for believing in them.

” I’m highly excited that the Super 4 was a huge success with a lot of innovations. The full capacity crowd that watched the game is a testament that the second tier league is now a household name in the country and we will continue to raise the bar and make it the most attractive league in the country.

” It’s equally important I commend our sponsors without whom we would not have recorded any success and I appeal for more corporate organizations to identify with the NNL, so that our football can be better”, he concluded.
