Shehu Dikko’s Experience Will Benefit Nigerian Sports

    By Jimoh Ahmed

Shehu Dikko’s appointment as chairman of the newly established National Sports Commission (NSC) is a well-placed decision that couldn’t come at a more crucial time for Nigerian sports, especially at this crossroad moment.

With his extensive background as a sports administrator, both locally and internationally, Dikko’s track record speaks volumes, positioning him as the ideal candidate to reshape and elevate Nigeria’s sports landscape at this watershed juncture.

Over the years, he has had many hats on his head, and he never sank in the sea that has drowned many public service officials in Nigeria.

Dikko’s international influence was also evident when he facilitated historic club visits from Manchester United and Portsmouth to Nigeria, many year ago, showcasing the nation’s potential on the global sports stage.

Serving as the 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), he had a deep understanding of the challenges within Nigerian sports administration.

His experience extends to senior roles with both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA, granting him an invaluable insight into global standards and best practices.

His presence as NSC chairman is more than just symbolic; it signals a transformative era for sports in Nigeria. A strong, knowledgeable leader who understands the unique needs of the Nigerian sports ecosystem, Dikko is precisely the forward-thinking administrator the country needs.

With Shehu Dikko at the helm, the NSC has a tremendous opportunity to lay the foundation for a sustainable, thriving sports economy in Nigeria. His expertise and commitment will no doubt help propel Nigerian sports to new heights.
