3rd Japanese Ambassador Karate Championship Starts July 24——-Dave Jegede

The Karate Federation of Nigeria has confirmed that the 3rd edition of Japanese Ambassador Karate Championship will take place in Abuja starting from July 24 to July 27, 2024.

Technical Director of Karate Federation of Nigeria Dave Jegede, who said the federation is doing all within its power to organize another befitting edition of the championships, made the development known in an interview in Abuja.

According to Dave Jegede, preparations are in top gear ahead of the 2024 edition of the Japanese Ambassador Karate Championship that is billed to take place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.

“It’s the Japanese Ambassador Karate Championship, this is the third edition, we have Africa tournament in Tunisia by September and we want to use this tournament to test run our team so they can be in proper form”.

“I can tell you we are ready, we have gotten approval for the accommodation for our participating athletes, the officials, about 16 states have registered with the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army, the Immigration, Air Force, so we are getting ready”.

Mr. Jegede further assured that the federation will continue to provide necessary platforms for its athletes to showcase their talents.

“This is the second national tournament for the year, one of our policies is to promote high competitiveness and I think we are doing that.”

“After this we have Africa championship in Tunisia, we have the Commonwealth Championship in Bangladesh, we also have the fifth Nasarawa National Open in October, of course we also have the only female championship in Nigeria and West Africa later in the year and we hope to round off with full council meeting. So I can tell you that better days are ahead of our athletes”.

About 30 states across the federation and participants from the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army, Immigration Service, Air force and others, are expected to take part in the 3-day Japanese Ambassador Karate Championship.
