Bayelsa’s Braveman Peremo won his first national title at the ongoing 2nd Governor Diri National Wrestling Classics.

Peremo defeated Ayiba Sesei of Delta State 7 to 4 points in the men’s 74kg freestyle final at the indoor sports complex of Samson Siasia Stadium on Tuesday.

An elated Peremo said his next target was to win a medal for Nigeria at the forthcoming African Games in Ghana.

He said the victory at the Governor Diri National Wrestling Classics had spurred him to put more effort into his training.

Peremo said, “I thank God for the victory at the National Classic. I feel excited because this is the Lord’s doing in my life; I give God the glory.

“I never dreamt of becoming a national champion soon but I had hope of winning a national championship because we’re there in life, there is hope and the word of God has manifested in my life.

“I want Nigerians to expect better performances from me; this is just the beginning of greater things. I am soliciting for the support of Nigerians to make me excel.

“With my strength and help from God, I am going to win a medal for Nigeria at the 2023 African Games in Ghana,” he added.
