Onome Ebi, captain of the Nigerian women national team, the Super Falcons, is confident that the Super Falcons could make it to the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Sportivationng.com reports.

Ebi, who is leading the 22 players named for the competition by Randy Waldrum on Friday is attending an historic sixth World Cup.

The Super Falcons will battle it out with co-hosts Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland in Group B.

The team crashed out in the round of 16 against Germany at the last edition of the competition in France in 2019.

The 40-year-old believes the Super Falcons can reach the last four this time around.

“As a team, we want to do better than we did at the 2019 World Cup in France. Being totally honest, I think we can aim for the semi-finals. We’ve got high-quality, experienced players and some really talented youngsters,” the 40-year-old told FIFA website.

“It really is doable, and it’s up to us to grab the chance with both hands and show the world that we are Nigeria and that we’re not just there to make up the numbers. I’m ready for a sixth World Cup, and we’re ready as a team.”

Onome Ebi will be leading other key members of the team which includes Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie and others to Australia and New Zealand under the tutelage of Randy Waldrum.
