Nse Udofot Essien, an executive board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has revealed why the Sports Ministry would pay Coach Jose Peseiro and not the NFF.

Essien said the NFF did not shift their responsibility in any way but that the Ministry of Sports insisted on taking over the payment.

In his submission during an interview on a Whatsapp platform, Sports World, he said the erroneous belief that the NFF dodged its responsibility, shifting same to the supervising ministry was false.

“The NFF has not shifted its responsibilities as far as the remuneration of the coaches are concerned. What happened in the case of Peseiro was that the Sports Ministry said they would be the one to pay his salaries; it was an obligation for them to fulfil but they didn’t.”

He continued; “Fortunately, the new Sports Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh, who is doing tremendously well, and not forgetting the president who has done excellently well, who has ensured that the backlog of salaries owed Paseiro would be paid.

“As for our coaches, we pay them, we don’t shift responsibility,” the administrator noted.
