    WESPAC 2025: Nigeria Reigns Supreme, Dethrone USA in Thrilling Scrabble Showdown

    In a stunning display of skill and determination, Team Nigeria has emerged victorious at the 2025 WESPAC World Scrabble Championship in Accra, Ghana, claiming the coveted Best Country title and dethroning the United States.

    Led by the sensational Oluwatimilehin Doko, Nigeria’s 15-man squad dominated the competition, racking up an impressive 350 wins, +8975 cumulative points, and a 54.7% winning ratio. Ghana, the host nation, put up a spirited fight, finishing second with 114 wins, while Kenya rounded out the top three.

    Doko, a 25-year-old debutant, was the star of the show, finishing 5th in the individual category with 21 wins and +1395 points. Nigeria’s strong performance was further highlighted by five players in the prestigious Top 20, including Tega Okiemute, Abdulmumin Jimoh, Godwin Victor, and Rex Ogbakpa.

    In the individual final, Canada’s Adam Logan emerged victorious, defeating Nigel Richards 4-2 in the best-of-seven final.

    The victory marks a historic moment for Nigerian Scrabble, with the team earning widespread acclaim for their unity, courage, and championship spirit. The team is set to return to Lagos on Monday, bringing home a crown that has eluded them for years.
