Ibadan Football Council Chairman, Mogaji Rotimi Alli has stated that his Council would allow players of Higher Leagues to feature in the IFC Female League which kicks off soon.

He made the disclosure yesterday while fielding questions from participants at the Draws for the maiden edition of the first- ever Female League in South-Western Nigeria.

He stated further that   such a player would be allowed to play for the team only if she had been registered earlier by the team; or if the senior player wanted to use the Competition as keep fit for an upcoming Championship.

Citing examples of such players in the ongoing IFC LEAGUE, Alli noted that “if a player like Asisat Oshoala is coming to feature in the Women’s League, maybe for keep fit I will gladly allow her because I know it will bring spectators to the Stadium and also add glamour to it.

We have many of them like that in the IFC LEAGUE who would have played for a bigger Club and then come back to play in my League. As long as they register them properly, they can take part. It’s part of the development of football which we are passionate about,” he declared.

Mogaji Alli reiterated that the Council would ensure that sharp-practices by Clubs would be check-mated with fool proof measures that would be put in place.

The 10 registered teams are Jogbin Femina FC, Adewale Babes, Oluyole Flaming Queens, Ibadan Queens, Lagelu Queens, A. A. Notable Naija Sports Sisi, Salam Ladies, Femlas Queens, Arole Queens and Apex Queens FA, according to a statement released by Folorunsho Oyelakin, the Secretary-General of IFC.

Those present on the occasion include members of the IFC, Secretary, Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA), Mr Kehinde Ojelowo, Chairman, Oyo State Football Coaches Association (OYFCA), Coach Akinola Olatunji, Members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Representatives of the ten registered teams and other Stakeholders.
