Ahead of the general elections into various offices in the Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing scheduled for the later part of October 2023, human right activist and foremost Urhobo Youth Leader, Comrade Kelly Umukoro has flagged off campaigns for the position of National President of the body by obtaining the nomination forms at the Urhobo House, Okere Road, Warri, Delta State.
Addressing newsmen on Friday in Warri shortly after picking the forms after paying the specified fees, Comrade Umukoro commended the UPU leadership for the transparent management of the election processes, promising to unite Urhobo youths across all the Kingdoms and harness their innate qualities to be able to move Urhobo nation forward.
He vowed to work with the parent UPU Executive and Urhobo Traditional rulers as well as political leaders to galvanize Urhobo youths to shun vices and embrace the virtues of hard-work, industry and contentment so as to curb violent crime and unethical behaviours that have impeded the growth and moral well-being of the modern day youths.
Comrade Umukoro disclosed that when elected, he would organize seminars and workshops for Urhobo youths to properly harness their capacities and groom them to face the future instead of idling away their vitalities in frivolities that cannot benefit society.
Spotting a red coloured and well packed wrapper and a white long-sleeved top and beads to underscore the traditional Urhobo regalia, a confident Comrade Kelly Umukoro was accompanied by a retinue of friends and well-wishers from all over Urhobo kingdoms to obtain the form, spotting a broad smile as he shook hands with all that came his way.
He announced to all that with the form duly in his hands, the stage was now set for the real contest later in the month, as he was set to serve Urhobo with all his might and spirit at the UPU youth wing apex level.
