Nigeria’s track sensation, Tobi Amusan, has made an awe-inspiring comeback, earning a spot among the Top 6 African Female Athletes of 2025.
Her remarkable season, marked by grit, reinvention, and outstanding performances, has cemented her status as a dominant force in the sport.
Amusan’s decision to team up with renowned coach Glenn Mills, known for guiding Usain Bolt to greatness, proved to be a masterstroke.
The partnership revitalized her technique and reignited her competitive fire. She kicked off the season with a 4th-place finish at the Xiamen Diamond League, clocking 12.74s, before improving to 12.45s in Rabat.
Her Jamaican stopover saw her sharpen her speed, recording a season-best 11.18s in the 100m flat.
The Paris Diamond League witnessed her triumphant return to form, as she stormed to a 12.24s victory, her fastest performance since setting the World Record in 2022.
Amusan’s momentum continued unabated, with wins at the Ostrava Golden Spike (12.45s) and Eugene Diamond League (12.38s), followed by her fifth consecutive Nigerian title.
The World Championships in Tokyo saw her top the semifinals with a 12.36s qualifying time, before securing Silver in the final with a 12.29s finish.
Her season concluded with a thrilling 12.25s performance in Chorzow, her third-fastest time ever.
