    Tinubu Congratulates Liberian President-Elect Boakai, Calls For Unification

    Following the successful conduct of the Liberian Presidential Election, Nigeria President ,Bola Tinubu has
    congratulated the gover nment and people of Liberia .

    The President who spoke
    through his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale on Saturday mor ning, congratulated the President-elect Joseph Boakai.
    The Nigerian President
    enjoined Boakai to unite the
    countr y and build on the
    popular suppor t expressed
    through the ballot box to deliver good gover nance to the
    people of Liberia.
    He also lauded the outgoing President, George Weah
    for dem onstrating uncommon leadership by conceding
    the election and aver ting any
    for m of socio-political crisis.
    The President says President Weah’s great act of
    dem ocratic spor tsm anship
    is exemplary, par ticularly at
    this time in West Africa, when
    democracy is under attack by
    malign actors who are bent
    on subver ting the will of the
    people.
    “I com m en d Pr esiden t
    Geor ge Weah for h is sterling exam ple, undiluted patriotism , and statesm anship.
    He has defied the stereotype
    that peaceful tr ansitions of
    power are untenable in West
    Afr ica.
    “He has dem onstr ated
    that the outcome of elections
    in the sub-region need not
    become the propellant of violence and unrest and that the
    will of the people must always
    be respected,” the President
    stated.
    Tinubu equally thanked
    the people of Liber ia for
    peacefully exercising their
    r ights and im plores them
    to remain steadfast in the
    fur therance of peace and democracy
