Team Nigeria continued its impressive showing at the inaugural African School Games in Algeria as Godwin Osaretin Grace clinched gold in the Women’s cycling (road race event) on Friday, marking another milestone for the country in the continental competition.

With a blistering time of 1:37:02, Grace edged out Algeria’s home favorite Chemouni Saoussan, who finished four seconds behind at 1:37:06, in a thrilling finish that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

This victory adds to Nigeria’s growing medal haul and underscores the strength and determination of the nation’s young athletes competing on African soil.

As of Friday morning (Aug. 1), Team Nigeria has secured a total of 11 medals, comprising:
    • 🥇 3 Gold
    • 🥈 4 Silver
    • 🥉 4 Bronze

More cycling events and other competitions are still ahead, as Team Nigeria looks to build on its growing momentum and make history at the maiden edition of the African School Games.
