The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, edged up to 36th in the newest FIFA Women’s World Rankings dropped Tuesday. The one-spot gain came even though the team had a quiet stretch, sitting out one of the international windows counted for this ranking cycle.

Back in December 2025, Nigeria was 37th globally. Since then, their only action was a two-game friendly set with Cameroon in March. They fell in the first match but answered with a win in the second a few days later.

Nigeria still leads Africa by a wide margin, now sitting over 20 spots ahead of South Africa, who are 58th worldwide. Rounding out the continent’s top five are Ghana, Morocco, and Zambia.

Globally, Spain holds onto first place with the United States right behind. England jumped to third, pushing Germany down to fourth. Japan moved into fifth after leapfrogging Sweden, France, and Brazil
